High waisted, faded denim shorts have been ubiquitous at this summer’s festivals and in the capital of late. Back then, they were worn with cropped denim jackets, silk blouses and indie-grunge black opaque tights.

Acid wash jeans are the biggest trend in denim for 2009, and the A-list know it. Nicole Richie makes them work with her laid back boho vibe by teaming her’s with fringed accessories and a peasant blouse. Rihanna and Beyonce wear their jeans with an edge, teaming skin tight, ripped and rolled hem styles with leather and toweringheels.
From oversized faded jeans that evoke memories of Bananarama and Bros, to nylon bomber jackets, cropped tops, BOY London T-shirts, shoulder pads and body-con dresses.
Ripped denim hasn’t really been big since the grunge days of the 90s… so it may come as a surprise that it is back as a fashion trend for women in Spring-Summer 2008. Kate Moss wore ripped denim shorts in a shoot for April 2008’s Vogue Paris, and then we spotted these shots of Gisele Bundchen on set with Mario Testino in a rather revealing torn denim outfit.
Tips for a Cozy Fashion Style

With the colder weather approaching for most people, staying warm and cozy yet still being fashionable is on many women’s minds. Here are some tips for having a cozy and comfortable style this winter.
Everyone loves bulky, warm wrap sweaters. They are the ultimate for lazing around on the couch. However, if you think these comfy tops are relegated to only going with sweat or lounge pants, think again and try a pair of leggings. Because they are tight fitting and stretchy, leggings give you a lean look that balances out the bulky sweater on top. Even celebrities like Rihanna wear bulky sweaters with chic boots, leggings, and a waist-slimming belt. For your thinner knits and cardigans, layering them together will achieve the same warmth with style. The only rule is to keep your knits in a similar color scheme so they don’t clash.

Lucy Liu’s Fashion Style
Posted by admin in Fashion Style on January 22nd, 2010
The off camera Lucy Liu is anything but the tough characters that she always portrays on screen. She is usually seen wearing hairstyles that are classic and elegant while still being on a trend setting edge. The assorted jewelry of hers became famous during her early appearances on the Ally McBeal show. Whatever style you wish to have, or hairstyle you wish to wear and jewelry you wish to use, I am sure that Lucy Liu’s choice offer sophistication and glam that would complement and enhance any style.
During the movie Charlie’s Angels, Liu’s character was seen wearing lots of fun hairstyles like a simple ponytail that is pulled way up that emphasized her sharp cheekbones and delicate neck bone. If you want this look, use a gel or a hairspray and curl a curling iron to make waves on your hair, and then pull your hair back with an elastic band to hold the ponytail in place. If you want a more playful flipped hairstyle, start by using a mousse or pomade while your hair is still damp. While blow drying your hair, use a round brush to flip the ends of your hair. And then apply a shine enhancer to smoothen your hair and give it shine.
Gay Men’s Influence on Fashion, Style and Popular Culture
Posted by admin in Fashion Style on January 21st, 2010
Popular culture is constantly evolving. There are many influences on what is considered fashionable and stylish at any one time. Some tend to dominate, however. And one growing trend is the effect of gay male sensibilities on many aspects of mainstream culture including films, television and fashion. No longer on the margins of mainstream culture, gay men are often making its rules.
Take the breakout show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. This entertaining television program took the (often true!) stereotype of gay males being more fashion conscious, cultured and aesthetically adept than straight males and made it the central idea. These witty gay men ran amock, giving advice to clueless straight guys on everything from their choice of swimwear to their behavior with the opposite sex. The show was a huge hit in the USA and globally, and even spawned localized versions in different countries.
There are other, more general examples. Take the gay ideal of masculinity, which has a focus on good grooming and physical fitness. While gay male icons are often Adonis like, their heterosexual counterparts have long been able to get away with being less than fit and sometimes downright slobby. But this seems to have changed in recent years.
